What is AAA game development?

Wingefors defined AAA games as titles that require over 100 developers at the peak of the development process and a significant marketing budget. These games are expected to sell at least two million copies each.

What are Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal working on?

Crystal Dynamics, the studio behind the popular Tomb Raider franchise, is currently working on a new installment using the Unreal Engine 5. The studio is also helping Microsoft’s The Initiative develop Perfect Dark. Neither of these projects has a release date yet, but both are among the 5 titles that Crystal Dynamics is committed to delivering by March 2028.

There is no clear information on what Eidos Montreal’s next project could be, but rumors suggest that the studio may be developing a new Deus Ex title. Eidos Montreal’s latest game, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, was well received by fans and gamers, but it is unknown whether the game will receive a sequel.
