In September, PlayStation Plus is offering a compelling lineup of games for its Essential subscribers. Sony revealed that players can enjoy three exciting titles starting from Tuesday, September 5th, 2023: Saints Row, Black Desert: Traveler Edition, and Generation Zero. These games are available for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
Saints Row, a 2022 reboot by Volition, takes place in the vibrant setting of Santo Ileso. It follows a fresh crew of disillusioned young criminals as they seize control of the city, employing a mix of violence and Jackass-style antics to topple existing power structures. In our review, we described it as a more grounded and enjoyable entry in the Saints Row series, making it a must-try for fans of Saints Row 2. Saints Row is downloadable for both PS4 and PS5.
Black Desert: Traveler Edition, created by Pearl Abyss, is a fantasy MMORPG offering action-packed combat, fishing, farming, and intense PvP siege events. It’s renowned for its extensive character customization options. While Black Desert is free-to-play, the Traveler Edition provides various in-game items and advantages. This edition is available on PS4.
Generation Zero, a first-person shooter from Avalanche Studios, unfolds in an alternate 1980s Sweden overrun by hostile robots. Players join forces to battle these mechanical invaders, all while surviving in the untamed wilderness and uncovering the mysteries behind the robotic onslaught. Generation Zero was first launched on PS5 in 2019.
For PlayStation Plus subscribers, there’s a reminder that August’s PlayStation Plus Essential games—Dreams, Death’s Door, and PGA Tour 2K23—remain accessible until September 4th.

PlayStation Plus Essential is Sony Interactive Entertainment’s foundational subscription tier, providing online multiplayer access, a monthly selection of free PS4 and PS5 games, cloud storage, and discounts on PlayStation Store purchases. This subscription is priced at $59.99 annually, $24.99 for a three-month subscription, or $9.99 monthly.
However, Sony recently announced an upcoming price increase for PlayStation Plus subscriptions. Starting in September, the 12-month Essential subscription will rise from $59.99 to $79.99. The Extra and Premium tier 12-month subscriptions will also see a $35 and $40 price increase, respectively.
