Monster Hunter Now Gameplay

Similar to its predecessors in the series, the game centers around the pursuit and elimination of monstrous creatures. However, it introduces several distinguishing features compared to its forerunners. Let’s begin with navigation.

In previous iterations of Monster Hunter, players would access a map to locate the target monster before embarking on the hunt. In contrast, Monster Hunter Now adopts a more interactive approach, reminiscent of the popular Pokemon Go. Players must explore the real world, where monsters will materialize on their in-game map. To engage these creatures in combat, players must physically approach their locations. Hunters can tackle these adversaries individually or collaborate with up to three other nearby players.

Upon engaging in combat, players are allotted a mere 75 seconds to vanquish the monster. The game capitalizes on the smartphone’s touch screen capabilities. Tapping and holding the screen initiates attacks, while swiping executes evasive maneuvers in the swiped direction. Once victory is achieved, all participating hunters reap rewards in the form of currency and materials.

Players also have the option to enhance their armor for augmented defense, as well as mix and match armor pieces to tailor their skills to their liking.

Regarding weaponry, Monster Hunter Now offers six distinct types at launch:

  1. Great Sword
  2. Long Sword
  3. Sword and Shield
  4. Hammer
  5. Light Bowgun
  6. Bow

Players can select the weapon that aligns with their personal hunting style.
