Once the curtain falls on the main story campaign in the Seasonal realm, Sanctuary once again finds itself plagued by a sinister menace.
Lilith’s malevolent minions return with a vengeance, their hearts tainted by malignancy. The player character must stand against the tide of decaying Malignant monsters, collecting their corrupted hearts to bolster their power and enhance their skills.
When it comes to the storyline, it adheres to a somewhat conventional formula, offering little to astound both seasoned and casual RPG enthusiasts. In a classic twist, players are tasked with seeking the guidance of a companion to navigate the perilous world. Enter Conrad, a former priest of the Cathedral of Light, who imparts wisdom on defeating the abominations, collecting corrupted hearts, and gaining newfound abilities.

With Conrad by their side, Sanctuary’s champion embarks on a journey through a series of Malignant dungeons across the 90-tier season, all leading to the ultimate showdown with Varshan the Consumed. Here’s the lowdown: If you’re an enthusiast of immersive storytelling, replete with intricate cutscenes and unpredictable twists, you might need to adjust your expectations. “Season of the Malignant” isn’t your go-to choice. However, if your appetite is for trudging through novel dungeon locales, amassing potent bonuses such as permanent slow auras or the ability to auto-cast corpses, and crafting game-breaking character builds, then this season is tailor-made for you.
Worried about losing access to your Mount, the Altars of Lilith, or the map locations you’ve painstakingly explored? Fear not, as your progress will seamlessly transfer over to the new season.
