Riot Forge, the game development division of Riot Games, has just announced the launch date of their newest League of Legends side story, Convergence. This 2D action-platformer follows Ekko, the boy genius with the ability to manipulate time, as he ventures into the undercity of Zaun, a vast region of Runeterra.

Set to launch on May 23, Convergence promises a thrilling adventure for League of Legends fans, with its cartoon-like animation style and time-manipulation abilities. In the game’s story trailer, we see Ekko journeying through the dark, mysterious alleys of Zaun, encountering various creatures and obstacles that he must overcome with his unique skills.

This standalone expansion to the League of Legends universe is the latest in a series of games from Riot Forge, following The Mageseeker, Ruined King, and Hextech Mayhem. Developed by Double Stallion Games, Convergence promises to be a fast-paced, action-packed adventure that will keep players on the edge of their seats.

The game was first revealed at The Game Awards 2019, alongside Ruined King, a turn-based RPG set in the world of League of Legends. Since then, Riot Forge has been tight-lipped about the game, until earlier this year when they announced their 2023 plans, which included Convergence and the upcoming 3D platformer Song of Nunu.

Fans of League of Legends can expect to see more of their favorite champions in these standalone expansions, each offering a unique take on the lore and world-building of the popular MOBA game. Convergence, in particular, will give players the chance to explore the underbelly of Zaun, a region that has been mentioned in the game’s lore but never fully explored until now.

As we see in the story trailer, Ekko must navigate through the dangerous streets of Zaun, avoiding traps and battling various creatures that stand in his way. His time-manipulation abilities will come in handy as he can use them to slow down time, giving him an advantage in combat or allowing him to avoid obstacles.

One thing that sets Convergence apart from other League of Legends games is its 2D animation style, which gives the game a unique look and feel. Developed by Double Stallion Games, who have previously worked on 2D action-brawlers like Speed Brawl and Big Action Mega Fight, Convergence promises to deliver a fast-paced, visually stunning adventure that will appeal to both League of Legends fans and gamers in general.

Convergence will be available on a variety of platforms, including Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. With its May 23 launch date fast approaching, fans of League of Legends are eagerly anticipating the chance to enter the undercity of Zaun and experience Ekko’s thrilling adventure firsthand.

Overall, Convergence is shaping up to be another exciting addition to the League of Legends universe, and one that promises to offer players a unique and thrilling gaming experience. Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the game or a newcomer to the world of Runeterra, Convergence is definitely worth checking out when it launches later this month.
