World of Warcraft’s Dragonflight expansion has introduced a new gear upgrade system, but it seems that players are still trying to figure out the new system. The Embers of Neltharion update aims to simplify gearing in the MMORPG by introducing a more universal gear upgrade system. However, it has left some players scratching their heads and referring to complicated cheat sheets to understand the system.

The new system allows PvE gear obtained from raids, Mythic+ dungeons, and the open world to be upgraded using Flightstones and Shadowflame Crests, which have replaced the old Valor system that was previously used to upgrade Mythic+ gear. Although the new system has its benefits, it has also introduced some confusion among players.

While Flightstones are straightforward and can be earned from various endgame activities, the confusion arises from the different types of crests, crest fragments, and sub-divisions of gear, which determine how powerful a particular piece of gear can become. Upgrading gear requires different types of crests, depending on the difficulty of the content from which the gear was acquired. This complexity has led players to create various cheat sheets and flowcharts, which can be confusing.

It is too early to tell whether the new system will be a success or failure. Some players seem to find the system straightforward, while others find it confusing. Blizzard has acknowledged that the system is a work-in-progress, and it will evaluate it throughout Dragonflight Season 2. Blizzard has stated that the future of the system “depends on how players interact with and react to the system.”

WoW: World of Warcraft Dragonflight Season 2 unveils fresh elements, including a novel Mythic+ dungeon lineup, an exciting raid experience, and a thrilling PvP season, commencing on May 9th. The arrival of the game’s 10.1 update on May 2nd introduces an underground realm for dragonriding adventures, an assortment of captivating narrative additions, and the highly anticipated feature of cross-faction guild formation.

Although Dragonflight has not sold as well as some of the previous expansions, Activision-Blizzard reported higher player retention numbers in the West, partly due to the company “delivering more content faster than ever before.” The 10.1 update is the first of two major updates planned for 2023.

In any case, it’s clear that the new upgrade system has stirred up some discussion and debate within the World of Warcraft community. Some players are grateful for the ability to upgrade their gear through a wider variety of activities, while others find the system overly complicated and confusing.

It remains to be seen whether Blizzard will make any significant changes to the system based on player feedback. For now, players are left to decipher the various crests and fragments required to upgrade their gear and continue progressing through the game.

If you’re struggling with the new upgrade system in World of Warcraft, don’t worry – you’re not alone. Many players are in the same boat and are turning to helpful cheat sheets and flow charts to make sense of it all. With some patience and perseverance, you’ll soon get the hang of the new system and be well on your way to gearing up your character for the challenges ahead.
