Starfield Mod

Although Starfield is currently only accessible to players who purchased the Premium Edition or the Constellation Edition, it has already gained a dedicated page on Nexus Mods. While the early offerings are somewhat limited, featuring the usual assortment of reshades and intriguing mods that unfortunately don’t quite deliver as expected, there is one notable exception: the Starfield Upscaler. This mod swaps out AMD’s supersampling technology for Nvidia’s version, DLSS.

Starfield has an exclusive PC partnership with AMD, which is why it initially supports FSR rather than DLSS, despite the fact that approximately 75% of PC gamers use Nvidia graphics cards. However, AMD has indicated that Bethesda has its “full support” to incorporate DLSS into Starfield in a future update.

In the meantime, as is often the case with Bethesda’s open-world games, modders have come to the rescue. PureDark, known for creating similar upscaling mods for Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition, wasted no time in releasing the Starfield Upscaler. To install it, you’ll need to extract the files into your Starfield folder and then acquire the relevant dll file from UpscalerBasePlugin, placing it in your /mods subdirectory. After completing these steps, enabling FSR in the Starfield menu will effectively activate DLSS (or XeSS if you happen to have an Intel graphics card). You can fine-tune the settings in-game by pressing the End key.

While this won’t necessarily boost your performance beyond what FSR offers, it should provide a more visually appealing experience. Just as with supersampling in Baldur’s Gate 3, FSR is a viable option if you don’t own an Nvidia card, but DLSS remains the superior choice for Nvidia card owners. Fortunately, using the Starfield Upscaler won’t disable your ability to earn achievements, which is definitely a plus. Read Full Reviews, Guides and Tips & Tricks of the Latest Games Click here.
